In its current form, the Saint-Jean-de-Malte church is the first entirely Gothic Provençal church: it was built between 1270 and 1280 by the Hospitallers of Saint-Jean-de-Jérusalem and replaced an older building of which we know that the dedication was celebrated by Cardinal Pierre de Colmieu on May 3, 1251.
