The Irish Potato Famine, also called The Great Hunger was the greatest single peacetime tragedy in western europe since the 14th century black death. This museum tells the story of what happened. Ireland was part of the British Empire at that time, yet at least a million people died of starvation and disease and millions more were forced to emigrate. This year's exhibition includes a museum artefact.
