Bellevue Castle has been the official residence of the Federal President since 1994. Not far from the German Bundestag and the Federal Chancellery, the castle stands on the edge of the Tiergarten. It is surrounded by a large park which borders the banks of the Spree. The Victory Column is located in the immediate vicinity. The first federal president Theodor Heuss moved into an official residence on the Spree, with Bellevue Palace as a symbol of the political goal of reunification.
