This great portrayal in bronze was sculptured by Yannis Pappas and unveiled in 1971. In the eponymous Park it shows the heroic politician striding and holding a rolled up scroll in his left hand.
Eleftherios Venizelos was born in Crete in 1864. During his long political life he was Prime Minister on numerous occasions, serving during periods of intense strife in the country.
